This policy describes how Divorceopedia, LLC ("Divorceopedia," "we," "us") handles personal information on divorceopedia.com. It covers both people using the site to find help and professionals applying to be listed.
What you can do without giving us anything
Almost everything. There are no visitor accounts. You can read every page, use the guided chat, and search the full provider directory without telling us who you are. The chat runs entirely in your browser: your answers there are not sent to us.
What we collect, and why
What you choose to send us
- The subscribe form. Your name, email address, where you are in the process, and — optionally — a ZIP code and anything you want us to know. We use it only to tell you about providers and coverage near you. You can unsubscribe at any time, no questions asked.
- The contact form. Your name, email address, and message, used to reply to you. A real person reads every message.
- Provider applications. If you apply to be listed: your business details, contact information, and — if you apply to be verified — your answers to our questionnaire. We use them to review the application and build the listing. Nothing is published until you have agreed to how it reads, and the parts of an application that become public are marked as such on the form. We keep one application per email address, and the address itself is stored in a protected form for that check.
What is collected automatically
- Infrastructure logs. Like nearly every website, the services that host and protect this site record technical details of each request — IP address, browser type, pages requested. We use them to run the site, prevent abuse, and rate-limit automated submissions.
- Measurement. We use Google Tag Manager to run measurement tools, which may set cookies and collect information about how the site is used — pages visited, device type, and approximate location derived from your IP address. We use this to understand what is working, not to build a profile of you.
Cookies and stored preferences
Beyond measurement cookies, the site does not store anything in your browser. It sets no preference cookies, keeps no local record of what you looked at, and there is no account to sign in to. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings.
Payments
Provider payments happen on Stripe's hosted checkout pages. Your card details go to Stripe, not to us — we never see or store them. Stripe's own privacy policy governs what it collects.
What we never do
- We never sell personal information.
- We never share who visited this site or what they searched for with the professionals listed on it. A provider hears from you when you contact them, not before.
- Payment never buys access to anyone's personal information, just as it never buys a better search position.
When we share information
We share personal information only with the services that make the site work — hosting, measurement, and payment processing — and only what each needs to do its job; when the law genuinely requires it; or if Divorceopedia is ever part of a merger or sale, in which case this policy still governs what was collected under it. That is the whole list.
How long we keep things
As long as we need them for the purpose you gave them to us, and no longer. If you unsubscribe, we stop contacting you. If you ask us to delete what we hold about you, we will, unless the law requires us to keep it. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by our infrastructure providers.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from updates at any time.
- Ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it — use the contact form and we will handle it.
- A listed provider can ask for their listing to be corrected or removed at any time.
- Block or clear cookies in your browser.
Children
This site is for adults navigating divorce. It is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date. If a change meaningfully affects what we collect or how we use it, we will say so rather than let the date do the talking.
